And probably will be for quite some time as we develop new courses, seminars, and learning opportunities, train or retain new instructors, and try to meet the expanding needs of the slate roofing industry.

How do I sign up for a course?

  • Currently, your only option is to get on a waiting list. We will contact you as a schedule becomes available. Alternatively, go to the SRCA website and contact the instructors listed there to see if any of them are available to deliver SRCA training courses or seminars.

Where can I find the course schedule?

  • We will post the schedule once it is available, as well as email it to all who are on the waiting list.

What tools do I need for the installation class?

  • Tools recommended for each student: (1) Slate Cutter; (1) Slate Hammer, (1) Slate Ripper, (1) Tin Snips or Aviation Snips, (1) Tool Belt, (1) Utility Knife, (1) Carpenter’s Pencil, (1) 4-inch-long by approximately 1/2 inch diameter hex-head bolt to use as a nail set, (1) Standard Pliers, (1) chalk line.

How do I get on a waiting list?

Do we have to go to your facility for training or will someone come to us?

  • Remote trainings may be available under certain circumstances. For example, you would have to construct one roof mockup per four students, according to SRCA specifications (we will email you the schematics and parts list), provide your own tools, etc. Cost is negotiable. Contact us about a site visit training.

When are courses scheduled?

  • We will attempt to schedule courses to accommodate the needs of our students, although this may not always be possible.
